Life in Between Trips: What My Days Really Look Like as a Travel Agent & Mom
When people think of being a travel agent, they picture beach views, airport outfits, and nonstop vacations.
And while yes… I do spend a lot of time planning incredible trips to places like Hawaii, Costa Rica, and the Florida Keys — the reality is, most of my days look a little different.
This is the life in between trips.
This is what running a travel business from home actually looks like.
☀️ Mornings: Coffee, School Drop-Off & Client Messages
My mornings usually start early — coffee in hand, checking emails, and messages from clients who are excited (or sometimes overwhelmed) about planning their next vacation.
Then it’s into full mom mode — packing lunch, getting my son ready, school drop-off, and making sure everything is where it needs to be.
Somewhere in between, I’m confirming hotel reservations, checking flight options, or answering questions like:
“Is this resort kid-friendly?”
“Do we need passports for this trip?”
“Is this worth the upgrade?”
(Spoiler: sometimes yes… sometimes definitely not 😅)
💻 Midday: Planning Trips & Running a Business from Home
Once the house quiets down, it’s time to really dive into work.
This is where the magic happens.
I’m building custom itineraries, comparing resorts and pricing, and finding the best value for my clients’ budgets — all while adding those little details that turn a trip into something truly unforgettable.
Most days, I’m working from my home office (which I’m slowly turning into my dream space), laptop open, notes everywhere… and probably reheating my coffee for the third time.
This is the part most people don’t see.
💪🏻 Real Life in the Middle of It All
In between calls and proposals, I’m squeezing in real life — and for me, that usually starts early.
A few days a week (typically 3 out of 7), I’m up around 3:30 AM to get to the gym before everything else starts. It’s the only quiet time of the day that’s just mine.
The other days, I fit it in after school drop-off — because flexibility is one of the biggest reasons I built this business in the first place.
In between it all, I’m researching trips, answering messages, walking on the treadmill (usually at an incline… because why not make it count 😅), and running to baseball practices, playdates, and everything else that comes with a busy schedule.
Somewhere in there is family time, dinner, meal prepping to hit my protein goals, and catching up with my husband after long days that somehow go by way too fast.
It’s not always perfectly balanced. It’s not always quiet. But it’s real — and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
✨ At the End of the Day
At the end of the day, this is what my life really looks like — early mornings, busy afternoons, and doing my best to make it all work.
It’s not always perfectly balanced. It’s not always quiet. But it’s real.
Behind every trip I plan is the time, care, and intention to make it exactly right for my clients.
Because when clients are on vacation, I want them fully present — not worrying about the details, the logistics, or what they might have missed.
That’s the part I take care of.
If you’re ready for a trip that’s thoughtfully planned from start to finish — not just pieced together online — I’d love to help.
I handle the details so you can actually enjoy the experience.
